Woven wraps

A woven wrap is a length of strong woven fabric that you wrap and tie around your body. They are simple and versatile, but rely on your wrapping and tying them correctly to give a supportive and safe carry. Woven wraps can be used on the front, hip or back and there are many, many ways to wrap and tie them.

Woven wraps come in different sizes, the size you choose determines the ways in which they can be wrapped and tied.

Sizing works by length of fabric, like this(ish), lengths are based on Didymos standard but vary by manufacturer

  • Size 2 – 2.7m
  • Size 3 – 3.2m
  • Size 4 – 3.7m
  • Size 5 – 4.2m
  • Size 6 – 4.7m
  • Size 7 – 5.2m
  • Size 8 – 5.7m

That’s a LOT of fabric.

For the most part you wrap around yourself and baby (although there are some carries you can pre-tie and pop baby in like you’ve done with your 2-way stretchy). The learning curve is steep, we can show you basics and hints and tips in a Library session but mastery of woven wrap skills relies on your practice in a quiet environment.

We have a good range of woven wraps of all sizes available for hire, but do not take many to the Library sessions, as the volunteers do not have the time to give anything other than basic demonstration; woven wrap skills are best learned by practice in a quiet environment, or in a consultant-led workshop.
